This Cookie Policy explains how vaicat B.V. ("vaicat", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on the CUEBES platform ("Platform"). This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site owners. Cookies may be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remaining on your device for a set period or until manually deleted).
We also use related technologies such as local storage (browser-based storage that persists across sessions) for certain functionality. References to "cookies" in this policy include these related technologies unless otherwise specified.
2. How We Use Cookies
CUEBES uses a minimal set of cookies, all of which are either strictly necessary for the Platform to function or are functional cookies that improve your experience. We do not use:
- Third-party analytics or tracking cookies
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Cross-site tracking cookies
Product analytics is currently disabled platform-wide. CUEBES does not write page-view or product-analytics events, even when an older preference previously said analytics was enabled. Any future anonymous aggregate measurement requires a new, explicit choice and an updated policy.
Under the ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)) and GDPR, third-party embeds that set cookies require your explicit consent. Some pages on CUEBES embed YouTube or Vimeo videos which set cookies on their respective domains. We display a cookie consent banner on your first visit, allowing you to choose which categories to allow. You can revisit your choices at any time via the Privacy pill at the bottom of the page, or by clicking "Privacy settings" on any blocked embed. Your preferences are stored in the cuebes_cookie_consent cookie.
3. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Platform to operate. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

4. Functional Cookies
These cookies remember your preferences to enhance your experience. They are not used for tracking. Note: these cookies are documented for completeness but are not currently set by the platform. They are included in the consent framework for future use.

5. Local Storage & Browser Data
In addition to cookies, CUEBES uses browser local storage for the following purposes:

Important: Your E2EE encryption keys are stored only in your browser's local storage. If you clear your browser data, these keys will be permanently lost and encrypted messages cannot be recovered. We recommend exporting a backup of your keys from Settings > Security.
6. Third-Party Cookies
CUEBES does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or social media tracking cookies. However, certain pages embed YouTube and Vimeo video players. When you consent to loading these embeds, they may set cookies on their respective domains (youtube.com, vimeo.com). These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy (YouTube) and Vimeo's Privacy Policy.
These embeds are blocked by default and only load after you grant consent via the cookie banner or Privacy Panel. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the Privacy pill at the bottom of any page.
If you sign in using Apple, or explicitly connect Google for a feature such as YouTube channel access, those authorization flows may set cookies on their respective domains. These are governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies, not ours. No third-party cookies are set on the cuebes.eu domain.
7. Managing Cookies
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the Privacy pill at the bottom of any page, which opens the Privacy Panel. From there you can toggle individual categories (functional cookies, YouTube embeds, Vimeo embeds) and clear stored browser data.
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View which cookies are stored
- Delete individual or all cookies
- Block cookies from specific sites
- Block all third-party cookies
- Clear all cookies when you close your browser

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we introduce new types of cookies (e.g., analytics cookies), we will update this policy and, where required, request your consent. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
