End-to-End Encryption

How E2EE protects your private messages on CUEBES

1 min read Updated June 9, 2026

CUEBES uses end-to-end encryption (E2EE) to protect your private messages, ensuring that only you and the recipient can read them.

How It Works

CUEBES implements a Signal Protocol-inspired encryption system:

  • Key exchange — X25519 (Curve25519) for key agreement
  • Message encryption — XChaCha20-Poly1305 for authenticated encryption
  • Per-message keys — Each message uses a unique encryption key

What This Means for You

  • CUEBES cannot read your encrypted messages, even if compelled by law
  • Messages are encrypted on your device before being sent
  • Only your registered devices can decrypt your messages

Managing Your Devices

Manage your E2EE devices from Settings > Encryption.

Important: If you lose access to all your devices and backup codes, you will not be able to recover encrypted messages.
